Texas Children’s Hospital is one of the most recognized pediatric medical
centers in the country. This project involved a full floor renovation of
16,800 square feet at their Bellaire location, transforming the space into
an intensive outpatient behavioral health facility serving adolescent
patients who are either stepping down from inpatient care or stepping up
from traditional outpatient therapy.

The program includes 12 therapy rooms, 7 group rooms, 7 administrative
offices, two staff bullpens, a waiting area, family lounge, safe room,
medication room, and restrooms. Patient and staff safety guided every
aspect of the design. MEP systems were specified and coordinated to
meet ligature-resistant standards throughout, including lighting fixtures,
plumbing fixtures, and air devices carefully selected to eliminate potential
safety risks without compromising the functionality of the space.

Telios provided full MEP engineering services, designing systems
that balanced the strict clinical requirements of a behavioral health
environment with the goal of creating a calm, welcoming space for
patients. Thoughtful lighting design played a significant role in supporting
the overall therapeutic environment, working alongside the interior
design to promote comfort and a sense of security for the people being
served.
