Dr. Vince Clinical Research located in Overland Park, Kansas, embarked on a transformative project to re-purpose a commercial retail site into an innovative and technologically advanced clinical research facility specializing in Phase I-II trials. The project aimed to create a facility that seamlessly integrates medical research, patient care, and corporate operations. The clinical research facility includes a 99-bed patient capacity, a cGMP-compliant compounding pharmacy, and state-of-the-art medical equipment and the integration of technology infrastructure to facilitate cutting-edge clinical research. The office headquarters was customized for administrative and research personnel, with an integration of advanced technology systems and communications infrastructure.
The Telios Plan
Telios engineered MEP solutions tailored to the unique requirements of clean rooms, labs, and patient rooms, ensuring a seamless integration of advanced technology, environmental controls, and patient comfort while ensuring efficiency and sustainability. Focusing on renewable energy, the facility was designed with a rooftop photovoltaic system, a multi-station electric vehicle charging station, and a comprehensive LED lighting system. In the event of a power outage, the facility is equipped with a full building backup diesel generator. Additionally, the facility has a smoking room, which requires the design of a dedicated HVAC system.
Implemented Technology
State-of-the-art technology for both ease of medical data transfer and patients’ comfort was at the forefront of design. From luxury lounge rooms, and a multi-station gaming and arcade room, to a video wall for nurse station monitoring, technology was a priority. Security was paramount as well and included multi-level security access control, silent alarms, and the latest biometric facial recognition to ensure patient and staff safety.
