Memorial Groves reimagines 100 acres of Houston’s Memorial Park, preserving one of the site’s most historically significant areas while creating a new experience for visitors. Located on the former grounds of Camp Logan, a U.S. Army training facility during World War I, the site contains one of the park’s largest concentrations of archaeological remains and is bounded by the Union Pacific rail line, Interstate 10, Memorial Drive, West Memorial Loop Drive, and existing rail and utility easements, creating a uniquely complex environment for design and infrastructure coordination.
Designed to connect visitors with the stories of the people who built, guarded construction, worked in, and trained at Camp Logan, Memorial Groves brings a lesser-known chapter of Houston’s history to life through immersive landscape and interpretive elements.
Features include a new visitor center, a forest of more than 3,000 bald cypress trees, earthen mounds, a reflective water feature, and preserved camp building foundations set within open lawns that trace the former Camp Logan street grid. Interpretive signage and exhibits are integrated throughout the site to enhance the visitor experience.
Telios is providing MEP engineering and technology design for the 100-acre campus, coordinating electrical distribution, conduit routing, and multiple service locations across a site constrained by active transportation corridors, utility easements, archaeological resources, and diverse program elements to deliver an integrated infrastructure solution.
