Our client acquired an existing hospital to transform into a modern surgery center, Ambulatory Treatment (ATC) Infusion Center, and compounding pharmacy.

Phase 1 centered on renovating key areas of the surgical suite, allowing the facility to open initially for outpatient surgeries with the ability to support up to 24-hour stays. In Phase 2, patient rooms on Levels 2 and 3 were modified to accommodate infusion bays where patients could receive treatments. Phase 3, building on the work from Phase 2, focused on a major renovation of the west wing of Level 3 to create a state-of-the-art compounding pharmacy to support the ATC. Two additional minor surgical procedure rooms were also constructed on Level 1 for procedures not requiring a full operating room.

To support the new pharmacy, a dedicated generator was installed to ensure continuous operation of the HVAC system during power outages.

A significant challenge during the project was the existing air handling unit and distribution system in the surgical suite, which were not configured to maintain proper airflow and space pressurization. Our team provided a detailed analysis of the suite, adjusting airflows room by room and creating a balanced air handling system that enables the surgical suite to operate reliably and in compliance with medical requirements.
