Mazda and Toyota, two of the leading automobile manufacturers, have teamed up to build a joint venture assembly plant in Huntsville, Alabama. The plant is 4 million square feet and sits on a 2,500-acre site approximately 14 miles from Toyota’s engine plant in Huntsville. The facility includes multiple shops for automotive manufacturing to include press, weld, paint, assembly, quality control and ten onsite suppliers. For a state-of-the-art facility that will make use of all the latest techniques, including workers being assisted by smart machines and computer systems, the technology design was a crucial part of the plant design. The Telios Technology Team collaborated closely with Toyota to design and engineer the structured cabling systems, access control systems, and CCTV systems for the new plant. Coordination with AV systems and MEP systems was also a critical element for technology design. As an additional service, Telios is providing technology construction management services to ensure the design and implementation of the technology systems met the Owner’s requirements.
