Large Institutional Cancer Care Center – MRI Suite Renovation

Size

10,200 SF

Highlights

MRI Suite, PET Ring, Active Facility Renovation

Services Provided

MEP Engineering, Technology Design

Our team provided engineering services for the complete renovation of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) suite located on the third floor in the heart of the Texas Medical Center.

Demolition of the existing MRI suite included the removal and disposal of all interior partitions and ceilings, as well as all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology infrastructure systems.  The renovated suite, approximately 10,200 SF, houses four state-of-the-art 3 Tesla MRI units. In addition, one of the four MRI rooms facilitates a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) ring.

The design incorporates space to fully support the operation of the MRIs and clinical operations within the suite.  Delivered through a design-build approach, one major challenge our team worked through was the limited plenum space above the ceiling.  By leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) and collaborating closely with the contractor team, Telios successfully coordinated the complex routing of MEP systems to ensure proper installation, accessibility, and long-term serviceability.
