This client announced its expansion into the greater Houston market with a new 75,000 SF facility dedicated to plasmid DNA (“pDNA”) development services and production of research grade and high quality pDNA. The project supports the Client’s strategic initiative to broaden it’s service portfolio and provide high quality, timely and reliable pDNA supply to developers of novel cell and gene therapies (“CGT”). The Woodlands was selected due to its proximity to CGT companies across the US as well as access to the rapidly expanding CGT ecosystem in Texas.
The 75,000 SF, two-story building with serviceable ceiling space includes 36,000 SF of interior build out featuring: BSL-2 laboratories, GMP cleanrooms (8,000 SF), GMP support areas (5,000 SF), quality control laboratories (7,000 SF), warehouse, cold storage, and administrative offices. The design incorporates a high degree of system redundancy, process reliability, and contamination control to meet stringent cGMP requirements.
In combination with the highlights, the facility has additional key features:
- BioReactors and coordinated process utility infrastructure;
- Pre-manufactured cleanroom system with walkable ceiling for maintainability.
This facility is a significant addition to the region’s capacity to provide cell and gene therapy solutions.
