ICT Designer/Engineer

The Data Engineer/Designer is responsible for the design, specification, and documentation of low voltage systems including structured cabling, audiovisual (A/V), nurse call, electronic security, cellular DAS, and related building technologies. This role leads system layout, device placement, pathway design, and technology selection while ensuring full REVIT/CAD documentation and code compliance. The position requires coordination with internal engineering disciplines, project managers, architects, owners, contractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle. The Data Engineer/Designer supports projects across healthcare, mission-critical, commercial, industrial, municipal, and other market sectors. Ongoing professional development and advancement in evolving low voltage technologies and design platforms are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field investigations and document existing site conditions
  • Design structured cabling, A/V, nurse call, electronic security, DAS, and related low voltage systems
  • Develop system layouts, device placement plans, and pathway/infrastructure designs
  • Produce and maintain REVIT/CAD construction documents
  • Select appropriate equipment and develop technical specifications
  • Coordinate designs with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines
  • Participate in client meetings and collaborate with project management teams
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and vendors throughout project execution
  • Assist with project scheduling, deliverables, and construction document revisions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Support system integration concepts and vendor coordination efforts
  • Stay current with emerging low voltage technologies and evolving industry standards

Minimum Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical discipline with prior internship or co-op experience in low voltage systems design

    OR
    High school diploma/GED with a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in low voltage systems design

  • BICSI certification(s) preferred, including but not limited to RCDD, DCDC, TECH, or INST levels preferred
  • AVIXA certification(s) including but not limited to CTS or CTS-D, ASIS certification preferred, including but not limited to PSP preferred
